The Carcoar Cup is back after a break. We love this weekend.
We suggest arriving on the Friday evening with time to expore the area on the Saturday. On Saturday there is a pasta party in the community hall. The runs are on Sunday morning so time for a celebratory lunch before heading back to Sydney. We will aim to organise car sharing.
This is a great event in rural NSW with runs through country lanes. These are the options.
Carcoar Cup Marathon– 42.2km of country roads and quiet grit
Half Marathon– a challenging but beautiful course starting in the town of Neville
10k Special -A one way fast course from Timber Fells Road to Carcoar
Carcoar to Creek Dash (6km)– short, sharp, and a great option for all levels
Mile Long Club (1.6km)– fun and fast, especially for the kids
Teams Marathon – split the distance amongst you and 3 friends and enjoy the day together
The half-marathon is particularly recommended - if you book this don't forget to pay the additional $15 for the bus to Neville.
From experience it is best to stay in Carcoar, but accomodation in the town is very limited. We have reserved some twin rooms at the Carcoar Royal Hotel with shared bathrooms. This will cost $100 a person total for the two nights. If you would like to one of the spaces please email DavidJThompson1962@outlook.com. Alternatively you can book rooms directly with the hotel . They have a very generous free cancellation policy of upto 48 hours before the stay.
The other more glamourous alternative in Carcoar is the Old Carcoar Post Office Guesthouse with rooms $300 a night. Again perfectly located. If you are interested in this please book directly.
Update 28 June 2026. We only have one bed in a twin room for a woman available now. Unfortunately there is no more availability at either the Carcoar Hotel or the Old Carcoar Post Office. Bathurst has lots of accommodation available.
